What kind of farm is this?

Dietrich, Idaho is the home of the Stan Ward Family farm and the next stop on the Clay Ward Family's crazy summer traveling extravaganza!  The Ward Family's main crops are sugar beets, alfalfa, corn, wheat, and barley.  However, with all the animals we saw during our visit, Laura is starting to wonder if the animals are taking over!  The kids LOVED each and every animal encounter and would try and convince Laura to bring them all home with them to New Mexico!  From the dogs to the newborn bunnies and everything in between, the kids tried hard, but Laura stood firm...sorry kids....no pets are coming home this year....enjoy them while you can, and enjoy them, they did.

We tried to witness the birthing of a calf twice....but just barely missed it both times!  Even though we missed the birth, it was neat to go and see the new calf and Mama.  One of them, we weren't sure if it was going to be a pleasant experience...the mother cow was struggling during labor and Stan thought that she was going to need help and that the baby was already dead.  So, we jumped on the 4 wheelers and headed out to the field, not sure what to expect...Laura started praying for the calf and mama on the way out, praying that things would be okay - and if they weren't -  praying to know how to explain things to the children...depending on what they found.  To everyone's surprise and excitement, we arrived and the birth had taken place and everyone was ok - Mama and baby!  What a miracle.

The baby bunnies even found a special place in Laura's heart!  But, not rooted deep enough to take them home!  Enjoy YES, keep...no.
