First REAL Snow of the year

We woke up Sunday morning to a world of white!!   There were about 6 inches of snow!  If we thought the kids were excited with the Skiff on Friday...you should have seen them today!  It was like Christmas - a few of the younger kids even asked "Is today Christmas?" We had to remind them, it hasn't even been Thanksgiving yet, we don't have our Christmas Tree up, our holiday decorations, etc.  They laughed and then continued playing in their new found winter weather toys. We had fun playing in the white stuff from early morning until late in the evening.  We had snowball fights, sled rides, snow angels, etc.  In the midst of play, Clay and the boys even did their good deed for the day....they not only shoveled our driveway, but 3 of our neighbors' driveways too!  Yeah, they are going to feel that tomorrow!  Our neighbors are all older couples, so it was a great service that the Ward men provided today!  Good job boys.  When asked, Clay said, "We couldn't go to church today (it was cancelled due to weather), but we can still do service and help others."  That is my man!

When the driveway was finished, CJ suggested, "Why don't we make a snow fort with all the extra snow we just shoveled off the driveway?"  So, in the latter part of the day, we did just that.  We constructed a snow fort in our front yard with all the snow from the driveway!  We finished just as the sun was going down.  School is already cancelled for tomorrow!  So, depending on Tuesday's weather, the kids may be out of school ALL week long (Already out Wed-Fri for the Thanksgiving holiday)!

We aren't in VEGAS anymore!

I don't think we are in VEGAS anymore Dorthy!  We are definitely getting a nice winter welcome in New Mexico.  We haven't really experienced winter for the past few years since we were in Vegas - we had pretty warm winters...never broke out our winter coats even!  Well, it is not even Thanksgiving yet, and we have already put on our winter coats several times, had a school 2 hour delay, church cancelled, 20 degree day with 5 degree windshield with the wind...yeah, it's COLD here!  The first day we had a "chance of snow" the kids were up at 6 o'clock dying to get their snowsuits on and head outside!  We aren't excited or anything, are we?  There was just a skiff of snow and some ice...but we sure had fun anyway!!!  Preston even had to go outside in his bare little footsies to test the weather...and see just how cold it was!  Crazy man!

What kind of Turkey are YOU?

The kids love crafts!  So we decided to make some turkeys to help with our Thanksgiving décor around the house!    It was fun to see their individuality come out in their turkeys!  We all had the same pot of supplies, but each kid did a different spin on their turkey and therefore we have a whole family of unique turkeys!

(Above) This one is CJ's

(Above) These are Aparri's turkeys.  Her turkey had to have PINK feathers and a pink skirt!  PINK, PINK, PINK.

This is Preston's.  He had a vision from the beginning and knew exactly what he wanted his turkey to be like!

This is Detric's!

This is our "grateful trees" we add 4 things every week during FHE that we are grateful for, and they cannot be repeated.  It has been really fun seeing more and more leaves accumulate on our trees.
