Santa

We thought Erica would cry when she met the Jolly Ol' Man for the first time, but nope she was content.  Ok she wasn't bouncing with JOY...but she wasn't screaming either!  She just held really still and looked forward and waited for the moment to pass!  The Santa at Cabela's was fantastic!  He even sang to Erica to keep her happy!  Wow, now that is service.  We had a second hello to Santa at the Ward Christmas Party....Aparri and Detric were the only ones brave enough to say hello twice... I think they are hoping for extra presents?

Christmas Parade & Firetruck FEAR

We have never made it to the annual Christmas parade.  So, this year we decided to rectify our absenses by attending this year.  Even though the 2 older boys had a birthday party and there was freezing rain,  a determined Clay and Laura bundled up the 3 little ones and headed to main street!

all was nice and calm...we were all peacefully watching the parade, and THEN the firetruck showed up!  And even that was ok..the lights were bright and colorful...it was the second they decided to blare the siren -  right in front of us....literally feet away - that Erica lost it.  You can see the progression of fear on her face.  We could hardly blame the poor girl...it was LOUD!

Everything turned out ok when Erica got a free stuffed animal and LOVED IT!  No more tears!

Christmas Duet

Aparri's Christmas Piano Recital
December 3, 2016

Aparri decided she wanted to play another Duet with Laura this year for her Christmas Recital.  Together they played God Rest You Merry, Gentleman & Good King Wenceslas.  It was fun to play together and they both did a fantastic job!!  Good job Girls!  Mrs. Tankersley was very proud!

Road to Eagle

CJ earned his Scout Rank and Tenderfoot Rank at the same Court of Honor.  He is working hard and making progress toward that eagle!!!  Good job CJ!  All that hard work is paying off.

Saturday Survey

The Saturday after Thanksgiving seemed like the perfect opportunity to conduct a survey.
Question:  Which of the 3 donut shops in Clovis have the best donuts?
Donut City, Daylight Donuts, or The Sugar Shack?

How do you answer such a question you might ask? Well, you go and get a donut from each shop and eat them of course!!! Well, let me tell you...this was one of the kids' favorite activities yet!!!  And what is the answer to the question?  Depends on who you ask!! Everyone had a different answer!!! So, I guess we will just have to conduct the survey over again since the results were inconclusive.....

Daily Exercise and Dog Sitting

During the Break, we took the kids out for daily exercise/ energy release!  CJ is working on his fitness requirments for scouts...and he was dog sitting Princess Yates, so it worked out perfectly to get the kids out of the house and up the street to see the dog.  The kids loved walking princess..especially on roller blades!!  Yikes...we could see a nice ER visit in our future - but luckily we finished the weekend without incident...whew.  Dodged that bullet!  Oh and yes, we had to stop and say hello to the horse too!

BEST Thanksgiving Turkey EVER!

We had a great Thanksgiving with friends this year!  We had the Steve and Megan Palmer & Tyrell and Brindee Loveless Families join us at our house!  Everyone participated and cooked yummy food - so it wasn't stressful at all!  We had all the traditional favorites from Eggnog and cider to Hot rolls, Mashed potatoes, sweet potates, and turkey.  Now...the turkey... Clay LOVES turkey.  Laura... she can take it or leave it.  It's not her favoite meat...but she will admit it is pretty good when it is accompanied by sweet potatoes and smothered in gravy.  But this year...Brindee out did herself and..Laura was in heaven...We had the best turkey legs ever...   Yes people, these were the real deal...
RICE KRISPIE TREAT STYLE turkey legs!!!
They looked amazing, but tasted even better!! Whoohoo...now that is my kind of Thanksgiving!  After we ate all we could handle in one sitting... we played games, hung out, and then ate pie - oh wow!! All homemade delicous pies...apple, eggnog pumpkin, lemon merigue, chocolate, the works!  At the end of the day we were full of yummy food, surrounded by friends,  healthy, happy, and safe.
That my friends is a Happy Thanksgiving!
