Detric's First Visitor..Becky

Well, I guess it is not too hard to be first visitor when are there for the delivery!  Becky was gracious enough to come and help out our family during her winter break from college!  Becky was bound and determined to help Laura go into labor and have a baby - well, it didn't happen on it's own, but she helped convince Laura that it was time to induce Detric out!  It was so nice having Becky here..she was a great support during labor, camera woman after delivery (yep..that is how we got so many great shots of Detric right after he was born, and when the kids came to meet him.  Plus, Clay was able to stay with Laura and help her- BONUS) and babysitter after wards.  Becky was soo helpful with the kids.  We didn't have to worry about a thing - Becky just took care of the homefront the whole time we were at the hospital.  Thanks Becky ... you are amazing.

Detric's 1st Bath

Well, if they couldn't get Detric to cry earlier, they sure got him to cry during his bath!  That kid does NOT like to be cold, and he will let you know it!  But, it was all worth it when they washed his hair...ooohhh you could tell he was enjoying that!  Now our little man is squeaky clean and smells like Johnson and Johnson baby wash...love that new baby smell!!!

The kids meet Detric

The kids were sooo excited to meet their little brother!!  The kids met Detric about an hour after he was born!  Welcome...!!!  HAHA.  As you can see, smiles all around!  CJ was interested in holding his little brother and then wanted to checkout the "labor" chart on the wall, Aparri was excited about her new little brother and seeing Mom again, and Preston wouldn't leave Detric's side. As soon as he walked in the room, Preston was next to Detric, holding him, touching him, looking at him, talking to him, he just couldn't get enough of him! Preston just LOVES Babies..and now that he has one of his own...look out, Love central!

Detric makes an Appearance!

Detric was just warm and cozy inside and not sure he wanted to come out!  So, we decided to help him out a little bit!  On Monday, Dec 17 (after a little mix up with the hospital...we were scheduled to go in around 5 AM, but got a call that we got pushed to standby, so wait for a call..well, we did get a call at 7AM saying, WHERE ARE YOU???, Well, a little communication glitch..but we got it figured out.  So, we got the boys off to school, Aparri off to a friends house, and off to the hospital we went!)  We got to the hospital around 10:00, they broke Laura's water at 11:00, we walked around the hospital for an hour while Laura had contractions 2 minutes apart, the nurses then told Laura she had to stop walking and sit...well stop she did, but so did the contractions!  NOTHING for an hour and a half...no contractions!  So at 2:00 the nurse and midwife said the naughty nasty word, that Laura didn't want to hear... PATOSIN.  AGHHHH... Yep..but it was worth it in the end.  Laura stuck it out, worked through the contractions and after 2 hours...at 4:06pm  Detric was born! Welome to the world little man!  Detric was very quiet and didn't cry much when he came out.  The nurses had to flick him to get him to cry and clean out those lungs!  I guess he is just a very content little man!  We sure hope that lasts!

Becky arrived, but no baby yet!  Oh, was she disappointed, but determined!  She vowed she would get that baby out!  The minute she walked into the door she had Laura bouncing on the exercise ball, walking, drinking raspberry herbal tea, jumping up and down.... we will keep you posted on our success!

Buddy our Elf and his sidekick

Meet Buddy our little Elf... and now our own life size ELF!

Grandma and Papa Visit

Stan and Amy came down for a quick visit...and we were so glad that they came!!  We stayed up late, watched movies, went to Build-a-Bear, roamed Bass Pro Shop - saw the fish and mermaids, and just enjoyed being together!  We were really hoping our new little man would make his appearance during their visit so he could meet his Grandparents and namesake "Dietrichites"...but no such luck!
