Several years ago, we watched a show called Donut Showdown on the FOOD network. It featured all different kinds of donuts and different donut shops around the country. Well...wouldn't you know it, one of the places they showed was Voodoo Donuts - located in Portland, Oregon. We were amazed that in all the years that we have been to/lived in Portland, we never made it to this famous donut shop.
So...since Clayboy LOVES donuts...Laura thought we should rectify our neglect, and make VooDoo Donuts the destination for our Maxx Train ride extravaganza.... and thus began "the great hunt for the PINK BOX". And guess what??? We found it....with a huge line waiting to go inside! Line or not..it was worth the wait! Oh..the choices - it was difficult to make a selection, but in the end.... Nana got a buttermilk bar, Clay got a maple bar with bacon, Laura got an oreo topped donut, CJ and Preston both got giant glazed donuts the size of their heads, Aparri got a chocolate covered donut and Detric a plain glazed. Everyone was in heaven (and if you know the individuals in our family - their selection was pretty predictable...kinda funny). When the box was opened and every received their donut of choice, it was absolutely silent ....yeah, you know it's good when kids are silent! It was fun watching Detric devoured his....with a kung fu grip and monster bites, it was gone in a flash. He must have thought...I better eat this fast or someone is going to take this from me!
I think we will add "Visit Voodoo Donuts" to our list of "must do's" every time we come to Portland...there were several more donuts that we need to try!
