First Day Fishing!

I think the pictures tell the story pretty well..but I will help with some of the details!  The kids were really hoping to put their fishing poles that they got for Christmas to good use, so the kids were stoked when Papa offered to take us fishing on our first day in Idaho.  Papa knew the perfect spot in Richfield; and let me tell ya.... it was the perfect spot.  It was green, lots of fish in the stream, a little overhang and umbrella to sit at while attaching your bait, someone even installed a diving board for recreation (we used it as a great fishing spot!)  We all took turns casting a line.  Preston was the first to get a catch~ and boy did he love his little fish.  He couldn't stop petting it, touching it, and holding it.  He would periodically go back to the back of the pickup, open the cooler and just check the little dead fish, hold it, talk to it, and then put it back!  Aparri was next - and boy that girl was proud of her catch!  She was so excited to give Preston's fish a friend!  CJ was the last one - he got a little frustrated at that.  With the help of Dad, he was able to catch a little fish!  Whew...all three kids had success.  After a while, we started to get hot, really hot....(yes, we live in Las Vegas - and Idaho weather is significantly cooler.  However, with the Vegas heat, we are usually in A/C or the pool).  So in order to cool ourselves off we walked to the bank of the river and hopped in.  The water was the perfect temperature and felt soooo refreshing.  *To help you understand how hot it really was..... Laura even got in and cooled off in the mino infested waters....yeah, it has to be REALLY hot for Laura to swim with the fish.... she hates anything touching her in the water. But today, she was hot and sweaty enough to share the river with the fish and love it.

When we got back to Grandma and Papa's, Clay and Stan gave the kids an educated lesson on how to clean out a fish.  Then, they went out and baked them in the firepit.  They looked pretty good out there cookin',but when it came time to eat them, not a kid was in sight.  They were too nervous to eat  the fish....
