Caravaning up Trail Creek Road

The Whole Stan Ward Family (Stan and Amy, their 4 kids, their spouses and their kids) ALL went up Trail Creek Road to go hiking and 4 wheeling.  It was quite the caravan with 4 large pickup trucks (2 were towing 4 wheelers) and a suburban.  We were loaded with food, fun, and kids!  We were alittle  sad because we had hauled our motorcycle helmets all the way from Las Vegas for this particular activity and the day we need them…. We forgot them at Grandma and Grandpa’s house…figures!  And apparently up in the mountains it is a several hundred dollar fine if you have a minor (under 12) caught without a helmet…so we decided not to take that chance (ok..we gave Aparri a ride around our picnic spot), so we found different fun.  Amy told us about a hike that wasn’t far away call Big Fall Creek.  So, several of us piled into one of the pickups and headed up the road to the trail head.  It was the perfect hike for kids…. Not very long, but exciting!  We crossed a log bridge, balanced on a tree stump across the creek, scaled a mountain, splashed in the waterfall, and back again! At the picnic site the kids found a shelter, a really COOL shelter,  that some other occupants created…the kids had fun making it their fort for the day!  There was also a little creek that ran through the back weeds that the kids enjoyed splashing in.  The weather had been HOT, HOT, HOT, but today it was overcast and cool – so the kids didn’t get in the water too long before they were shivering.  Oh Well….water or no water, it was a fun family gathering in the Idaho Mountains.  It was fun being together for a few hours…it doesn’t happen very often where we get EVERYONE. (As you can see Laura wasn’t in charge, because there is no group shot of all of us!  We were quite the bunch… 5 vehicles, 7 four wheelers, 2 grandparents, 8 parents, 18 kids, and a partridge in a pear tree!)
