A Joyful Reward for Surviving!

We survived our first week of school and decided to celebrate by going to Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock, TX.  We were joined by our friends Dave and Jenny Hickman Family.  We had a blast.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  It was cloudy and warm, so we didn’t bake in the sunshine. There were no lines on the rides so we rode ride after ride after ride…and if we wanted to do it again…we did!  We lasted about 5 hours and then the PB and J sandwiches that we had in the parking lot started to wear off and we headed home, but we all had smiles on our faces and memories to share!  Preston was afraid to ride the roller coaster called “Galaxy” but we were able to get him on it right at the very end of the day and he loved it!  So we stayed a few more minutes and let him ride it 3 more times!   Aparri is fearless – she attacked fear head on.  She went on the rides alone and ready to have a thrill NO FEAR for this chickadee.  CJ had a great time taking on the park with his friend Chandler.  He even went on the ride that no one else would…nicknamed the Octopuke…yeah, I’m sure you can use your imagination and get a good picture on what that ride entailed…lots of spinning!  Detric loved the train and the trucks.  He could have stayed on those 2 rides all day long and been completely happy and content.  However, Dad got him on a different ride that was a bit fast…after the first rotation his little face was pure horror and shock, the second spin around was toleration – realizing this isn’t so bad and might be a little fun, by the third time around – pure Joy and excitement!  When he got off he was smiling ear to ear, but when asked if he wanted to go again he said, "No thanks!"  We couldn’t have asked for a better day at the park!
