Not the Beach...the Coast
The Beach and The Coast...same thing right? WRONG! The Beach is a place that is warm, sunny, you lay out, you get sunburned, you swim in the water to cool off, you play in the sand, you enjoy the cool breeze. The Coast is a place where you might put your toes in the water to feel how ridiculously cold the water is, where the sun shines some of the time, where you play in the sand, the breeze makes it soo cold you have to wear a sweatshirt to stay warm, and if you are brave enough to put more than just your toe in the water... you will probably suffer from signs of hypothermia the rest of the day! Yes, up in Oregon and Washington State...it is definitely the COAST. However, Beach or Coast.... we were off to see the water! The kids and some of the adults were brave enough to conquer the waves! Clay, Shane, and Isaac were insane enough to go in and jump the waves! Laura put her feet in and they instantly went numb...so she didn't know how those boys were out in the water up to their chest and surviving..... well, when they got back, Laura asked...and she probably shouldn't have asked because she didn't like the answer..."Oh, you just got numb from the neck down..and then it wasn't so bad." Numb from the neck down, ARE YOU CRAZY? Holy cow. Well, those poor boys paid for it... they were shivering for the rest of the day, their body just couldn't warm up. Goodness. Julie was the only girl brave enough to go part way in...and the rest of the girls were grateful, because she took the children that wanted to go out - with her (that meant that we didn't have to!) Thanks Jewels for being a trooper! CJ, Easton, and Sage were brave enough to be buried in the sand. I think it made a good wind block and natural blanket from the chill breeze~ they were probably pretty warm under there! However, the warm blanket turned into a rude awakening when they were forced into the chilly water to wash all that sand off! Cold or not, windy or not, beach or coast.... we all had a great time splashing in the water, digging in the sand, shopping at some of the beach stores, and getting ice cream on the way out! Yeah for the OREGON COAST!!
