Father and Sons in the Mud
It's Boys night! Father and Sons campout - NO GIRLS ALLOWED! While Laura, Becky, Aparri (and Detric..their token male) were doing their girl things; Clay, CJ and Preston were doing their boy things! Mud, mud, and more mud! The campout was at Stewarts Point on Lake Mead - a beautiful spot...just a very muddy beach. Water, dirt, and mud is the perfect combination for boys to get into some trouble while the Dads set up tents.....and trouble they found! As the story goes - one boy got stuck in the mud up to his waist and while trying to get out lost a shoe, so the other went in to help him. But instead of helping, he too got stuck and lost his shoe! (as Stan Ward would say - if you have 1 boy you have 1/2 a man, you have 2 boys you have nothing)...so the Dads had to come down and rescue the stuck children. They got the boys out ok...but then spent the next while hunting for the lost sunken shoes. (As the boys would call it...Buried treasure!) After the mud incident - the evening was spent building fires, making dinner (which Clay made foil dinners that were AMAZING filled with meat, carrots, potatoes and lots of flavor...but the boys wouldn't eat it...instead they wanted the hot dogs their friends bought. REALLY? Foil dinner vs. hot dogs...hot dogs won!) roasting marshmellos, making smores, and reading The Magicians Nephew (the boys are into The Chronicles of Narnia right now!). The next morning the boys arrived home with stories to tell, pants and shoes full of mud, blisters on their feet, and smiles on their faces. Success!! The boys are ready to go again!
