The weather was gorgeous yesterday! We took the morning and played tennis (Laura's love) and spent the afternoon riding Motorcycles (Clay's love), luckily our "loves" are rubbing off on our children and they love them too! Clay had 2 kids on black bart with him, Aparri rode the little green motorcycle, and Laura & Detric were on the red one. As a family we cruised the neighborhood! We are officially the Motorcycle Family...here we come!
Hey Everyone, we're doing well & keeping busy with flying, family, and school, but mainly just trying to keep up with CJ, Preston, Aparri, Detric & Erica. We hope that you're doing well and that you'll drop us a line and let us know how you're doing. [Clay, Laura, CJ, Preston, Aparri, Detric & Erica]

So sweet....so beautiful
So the boys had a boys night and the girls had a girls night... after everyone got back home, Preston ran up to Laura and gave her these flowers. "Oh..thanks" Laura said. Then Preston ran off. Clay then turned to Laura and said, "He has been holding on to those ALL night. He found them during the evening, showed them to Clay and said, "These are Mom's favorite. I am going to hold on to them and give them to her." And that he did... through all the running around, playing, etc. he held on to those flowers and gave them to Laura the moment he got home. What a sweetheart. Laura was so touched that she was thought of all evening by her little man, she couldn't stop smiling. A dozen roses, a bouquet of tulips, or any other flower couldn't have made Laura any happier than these two little dying limp flowers made her at that moment. This little man knows how to melt your heart. Thanks Preston, Mom loves them.
Just me and My Sippy
This little man is made of milk! He LOVES milk. That is the only sign language he knows and we see it ALL THE TIME!! MILK...MILK..MILK. Morning, noon, and night! It is hard to resist that sweet face, when he looks you in the eyes, signs milk, and does his best at saying "Milk" it takes one tough cookie to say no.... he just melts our heart every day. We love this boy. (This is a classic Detric pose...legs crossed, arm behind head, leaning back, and drinking his milk!)
Startin' Her Early
Laura definitely underestimates this little tough girl. When Clay said that he was going to let Aparri try the motorcycle, Laura thought he was crazy! No WAY!! She isn't old enough to do that...she just turned 4. Sure she learned to ride a bike when she was 3, but a motorcycle? That is just out of the question...she can't do it, she is just going to get hurt. Well....goodness gracious...this little Miss surprised her Mama! She hopped on, gave Dad a run for his money (literally...she pulled on the throttle and he ran full speed after her down the street!! Dad was out of breath, but Aparri was smiling ear to ear and thought it was GREAT! After a few lessons with how to use the break (we are still working on that...her poor shoes' toes are getting worn down to bits!) she is a little pro! She LOVES the motorcycle and is always asking and wanting to ride! What can we say?? Daddy starts them young! So far, they all love them and we have do doubt that Detric will love them too! He is already getting the itch! (Laura gave him a little ride on CJ's motorcycle and the LOVED it !! Grins, grins, and more grins!)

Leap for Life 10K
Laura kept her tradition alive! For the past 4 years she has ran a 5K for St. Paddy's day. This year she decided to try and step it up a little and go for the 10K. She did it! It was a difficult 6.2 miles, but she did it! She ran for 1 hour and 10 min. straight without stopping! Whooo hoo. At the 1/2 way point she teamed up with a girl named Tera. They spent the second half talking, motiviating, suffering, and just getting to know each other as they ran to the finish line! The Run was held at Ned Houk Park here in Clovis. Clay and the kids hung out at the park, pond, and grass areas waiting for Laura. Team Ward did a great job cheering on Mom/Laura, taking pictures, videoing the event, and being a great support! Laura is glad she did the 10K but is now walking funny as her legs attempt to recover! Good job Laura... you can now check 10K off the bucket list!
Tastes like Chicken
Eating rattlesnake is all part of the experience. You don't get the complete experience of Rattlesnake Roundup unless you eat a little fried snake! So that is just what we did....we bought just enough for everyone to try a little piece. YUM YUM (Not...). We were surprised at how little snake meat there really was....just little strings of meat. You definitely wouldn't want to have to live off rattlesnake meat...you will be highly disappointed.
Megan gave it a thumbs down, Clay didn't think it was too bad, Lizzy thought it was great, Laura thought it was "Ok" but definitely wouldn't choose to eat it again, and Detric loved it!
Oh, By the way...RATTLESNAKES DOES NOT TASTE LIKE CHICKEN!
Never say NEVER
Both Megan and Laura said, "I will never get that close to a rattlesnake. People who put them around their necks are CRAZY..." Well, Never say Never People...most of the time you will eat your words. Both Laura and Megan did when they were both hugged by rattlesnakes! Honestly people, it is a little weird looking over and seeing the head of a rattlesnakes within inches of your face... Sure didn't seem to phase the boys though...they loved it. No fear there! Preston was the first to have a turn, then CJ stood with confidence as the snake was placed on his shoulders. Aparri wasn't going to have anything to do with a snake on her shoulders.. NO Way... she would pet it, and that was good enough for her. Clay was calm, collected, and not bothered at all by having a killer snake around his neck! While Clay was having his turn, Megan said, "Laura why don't you go get in the picture with Clay." "Ok" So Laura walked over and stood next to Clay. As she was looking at the camera smiling, the snake guy snuck the snake around and draped it on an unsuspecting Laura. When she saw a rattle in her face she totally screamed! It completely freaked her out, it was great! Detric wasn't sure what the heck it was and started playing with the rattle.
