We
didn't have a white Christmas, but a few days after...a winter storm was
forecasted....church was cancelled 24 hours in advance....calls were being made
to make sure everyone had heating sources incase power went out, and 3 days
worth of food in case you were snowed in.
Well, weather came as predicted.
First it was high crazy winds during the day, then right at night fall -
the snow started, then the lightning and thunder - yes! Lightning and thunder during a snow
storm...crazy weird. The biggest problems
ended up being visibility for people that were out driving and had to pull over
and then got stranded and buried in their cars, lots of people lots power, and
snow drifts were crazy high....as high as people's houses. They advised people not to leave their houses
for 2-3 days. Clay being the "Idaho
Man" that he is with the attitude of "Snow don't scare me"
decided to go for a joy ride around the block (and not tell Laura )...and guess
what... Idaho man got stuck! He had to
get pulled out by another truck! The
next day, he spent over an hour helping another SUV dig themselves out of the
same snow drift because they also thought they could get through it. Trust me people...this storm was a
doozy. We had one member of our ward
that had to spend the night in his car and then be rescued - dug out - of his
buried car the next day. It could have
been bad for him, but luckily several people in the ward have big trucks and
went and got him. Clay tried using the
"if only I had a bigger truck I
could have gone out and helped rescue people" line on Laura..(Clay has
been trying really hard for the past few months to convince Laura that he needs
a BIG truck!...yeah, nice try hunny ) So
far he has been unsuccessful....maybe in 2016...maybe!
The
high winds and cold temperatures didn't bother the kids! They loved to play in the snow. CJ was out there for hours building snow
caves in the drifts.
Laura, on the other hand, is having a hard enough time keeping her feet under her without snow and ice - so she decided to stay nice and cozy by the fire!
