Be Still...and know I am God

 

Sometimes it is good just to go out into the woods and have some peace and quiet.  Disconnect from the rest of the world...no tv...no cell phones...and just be still.

Preston found this log that he called a "Deerpede" a deer head and a centipede body!

 

Cloudcroft Camping

 

We decided that we would try and go camping as many times as we could this summer.  We didn't make it camping in New Mexico as a family at all last summer, so we wanted to be sure and rectify that situation and get several trips in this summer!  Now...the decision of where to go?  We finally decided to head south by Ruidoso.  Clay and Preston had attempted to camp in April (but got snowed out), so we decided to try again at the same place.  As we made the final preparations for the trip,  Laura started asking questions of the camp ground.  L:  So, we are going to a campground, right?  C:  Yeah, there is designated spots to camp. L: Is there a water resource?  C: No.  L: Is there a picnic table?  C: No.  L: Are there bathrooms?  C: No.  L:  Oh, boy...we are really roughing it, in the middle of no where...its not just off the side of the road, right?  It is ok to camp there?  C:  Yes!  Of course.  After that conversation, Laura decided to pack a little differently!  More TP, More water!  I won't lie, Laura was a little nervous, but it ended up being perfect!  Our little family isn't the quietest of bunches...so when it came time for bed - there was a lot of noise and crying going on (Detric wasn't sure what was going on, this was his first tent camping exposure.)  He kept crying and grabbing Laura's face and saying "HOME" "HOME"  Clay and Laura couldn't help but laugh at the situation!  Clay made the comment, "I don't think we are ready for socialized camping"  Laura knew exactly what he meant.  If we had neighbors or anyone camping remotely close to us, they would be SOO mad because of thier noisy neighbors.  Thank goodness the only ones we were worried about distrubing were the bears and wildlife (and honestly...if we distrurbed them - good.  They knew we were there and wouldn't come a lookin'.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Memorial Day Moms

 

Our husbands had to work, and the ladies didn't want to stay home on Memorial Day....So the ladies took the kids hiking to Palo Duro Canyon by Amarillo, TX.  It had rained quite a bit the few days before, but the weather was nice ON Memorial day - so the girls didn't think twice about going hiking.  Well, when they arrived, they were told that  ALL the trails were closed due to all the rain - and at first they thought their day was ruined - and they had just driven an hour and a half to be disappointed.  Rather than give up, they decided to see if they could make the most of the day and they had an adventure!   They had a blast hiking around and having their own fun on their our "own trails"! 13 years Lucky

 

 

 

 

Even though 13 is usually seen as an unlucky number, this year we count ourselves VERY lucky!  Clay and Laura celebrated their 13th anniversary by going out to Thai food, playing a round of mini golf (Laura won the first 9 holes & Clay snuck up and had a winning comeback!), and they ended the evening by indulging themselves in frozen yogurt from yo tea go. (someday we will try again to go  on our WA DC/ New York trip...but not this year).  This year we are happy to spend the evening together on a date and enjoy the moment!

 

 





You've got to be pretty talented to hit a golf ball from the opposite side and have it land on the complete other side of a rock...seriously.

While Laura's ball sits on a rock, Clay's golf ball easily glides toward the designated area and  happily hangs out by the hole.  Goodness....

 

 

Queen of the Day

Clay and the kids sure treated Laura like a queen on mothers day.  She was showered with thoughtful gifts and love.  The kids all made her cards, cookbooks, pictures, and signs.  Together they all made breakfast in bed and made her a fabulous Indian dinner complete with Chicken Tikka Masala and homemade naan.  It was delicious.  Laura didn't have to cook anything all day long, she got a nice nap in the afternoon, and had a wonderful day being around the people she loves most- Clay and the kiddos that make her a mother!  It was the perfect way to celebrate.
